BGE COMMUNICATION EXPECTATIONS It is a crucial and required element of your success in music and life to have strong communication. A great deal of any project that you may be involved with us in will require good communication. The more things are clear, the faster we can get through the different stages and move your specific project to its fruition. Confusion and misunderstandings can delay a project and bring frustration to all parties involved. Below are a couple tips to help you move through your project with BGE and how to approach other members of your group as well as the BGE crew, affiliates and associates. EMAILS – Email communication can be very helpful when trying to clarify and communicate questions, thoughts and criticisms. It is also a great way to track your progress. Keep emails from PME for reference later on. If you send an email and don’t receive a response within 24 hours from any member of BGE, resend or follow up with a phone call. We have a policy to respond to any email immediately. Even if we can’t get you the answer or information you are looking for immediately, we can give you a time frame. The internet is a funny thing, emails can get lost, communication can break down here, that is why we also would like to receive responses that you have received our emails and forms as well as attachments sent from us. With headers or subject line, use a specified subject. Don’t just respond to something if it is regarding something else. We keep all emails here and organize them in the client’s folders. It helps us to know what the email is about and where to place it. Always have a subject header. When writing emails and figuring out questions, please bullet point your specific questions, ask anything and ask it with detail. The more we can understand what you don’t, the faster we can help you learn what you need to know or clear up what is misunderstood. CONSULTATIONS – Our artists receive a number of consultations through out the process of your projects. Some will simply be updates; others will consist of education, ideas, approaches and concepts. BGE throws a lot of information at people fast. Bring a pad or even a laptop to a consult meeting or have one nearby for your phone meetings. Take notes and run through attachments and sheets sent to you for later questions. The more you can be on top of all the material coming at you as a client, the more we can help you to understand it as the company. DEADLINES/ PROJECTED TIME FRAMES – All projects, proposed timelines and deadlines can only be met by the work and the detail of the artist as well as the work that we do. If you are looking at a certain deadline for a contract, a promotional package, the marketing of a release; it will take the communication and work of both parties to achieve it. If we call or email for certain information that we need and it is not delivered or discussed with us, it may and likely will back up things. Please be in contact, especially when you are trying to get a project completed under a deadline and for that matter even if you’re not under deadline. OUTRO – Communication is key. Communication will make your work with us flow smoothly and it will be the core elements to allow you to understand the music business as it comes at you. Asking questions about anything and everything as you move along in your career will help to define things easier for you and your career as well as enable you to come at the industry and all its different factions in an education, intelligent and productive way. In a way, where you will be on control, know what’s happening and understand your rights.
